My personal blog as a 'grown-up' Goth and Romantic living in the Highlands of Scotland. I write about the places I go, the things I see and my thoughts on life as a Goth and the subculture, and things in the broader realm of the Gothic and darkly Romantic. Sometimes I write about music I like and sometimes I review things. This blog often includes architectural photography, graveyards and other images from the darker side of life.

Goth is not just about imitating each other, it is a creative movement and subculture that grew out of post-punk and is based on seeing beauty in the dark places of the world, the expression of that in Goth rock. It looks back to the various ways throughout history in which people have confronted and explored the macabre, the dark and the taboo, and as such I'm going to post about more than the just the standards of the subculture (Siouxsie, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, et al) and look at things by people who might not consider themselves anything to do with the subculture, but have eyes for the dark places. The Gothic should not be limited by what is already within it; inspiration comes from all places, the key is to look with open eyes, listen carefully and think with an open mind..

The HouseCat likes getting feedback and questions, and other responses from her readers. You have several options for contacting the HouseCat.

☺FaceBook:
There is a Domesticated Goth ::FaceBook page::. Nice and interactive, but you have to comment using your FaceBook profile.

✎ FormSpring:
Good for shy people wanting to ask me questions, as it allows anonymous asks. Ask me things, but anything rude or too personal will not get answered. Note that I am 'Domestic Goth' here rather than Domesticated Goth, because Domesticated Goth was too many characters in length for a username there.

✉ E-Mail:
The HouseCat can be e-mailed at domesticatedgoth {at symbol} gmail.com - obviously you have to replace the spaces and {at symbol} with a proper @, but I have formatted things like this to try an prevent crawlers from lifting my e-mail address and sending me spam. I do not appreciate unsolicited advertisements.

✐ Comments Here
You can always leave a comment on this page if you want, too. Same rules apply here as to commenting elsewhere on my blog. Feel free to use it as an electronic 'visitor's book'.

The HouseCat is open to people disagreeing with her opinion, but those doing so in a rude manner will a) have any point they were trying to make be ignored and b) get blocked/banned/whatever is relevant to the medium of communication. The HouseCat is in a committed relationship and is not interested in any romantic suggestions and will take a dim view on anybody else contacting her just to tell her she's sexy and asking if she's single. Sexy is a subjective opinion, and she's not single.

  1. Hi,I hope you won't consider this spam. I'm just Trying to spread the word! I just created this petition to end employer discrimination based on tattoos, piercings, and hair color, and I would really appreciate some exposure. Thanks.
