My personal blog as a 'grown-up' Goth and Romantic living in the Highlands of Scotland. I write about the places I go, the things I see and my thoughts on life as a Goth and the subculture, and things in the broader realm of the Gothic and darkly Romantic. Sometimes I write about music I like and sometimes I review things. This blog often includes architectural photography, graveyards and other images from the darker side of life.
Goth is not just about imitating each other, it is a creative movement and subculture that grew out of post-punk and is based on seeing beauty in the dark places of the world, the expression of that in Goth rock. It looks back to the various ways throughout history in which people have confronted and explored the macabre, the dark and the taboo, and as such I'm going to post about more than the just the standards of the subculture (Siouxsie, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, et al) and look at things by people who might not consider themselves anything to do with the subculture, but have eyes for the dark places. The Gothic should not be limited by what is already within it; inspiration comes from all places, the key is to look with open eyes, listen carefully and think with an open mind..
Very cool! How do you make you black lips? Lipstick? Black pencil + gloss? Which brend? I usually do my black lips by using a black pencil and putting some gloss on top of it, but I wonder if a black lipstick would be bettre. If you know a good one, could you tell mme please? Oh, and 1 question more: how long does it take to make your super swirl makeup? It looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHugs from France! Mirjam.
The whole face takes about 45 minutes to do. Swirls can take anything from a few minutes to 20, 25 minutes, depending on the detail of the swirls.
DeleteMy black lips are done with black pencil (check they're safe to use on lips before use!) to do the outline and shading inwards, and then I use black lipstick (I use Stargazer) and then a coat of black lip-gloss (currently I use Rimmerl 'Stay Glossy', but it doesn't stay glossy!).
Hy! Thank you for your answer! WOW, you have a lot of patience to do 45mn make-up!!! I also used Stargazer, they have cool products! Have a nice day!

I know that poking self in the eye problem! I once managed to get a black eyeball from liquid eyeliner! Aaargh!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous!
Eep! That can't have been pleasant. I've managed to get liquid eyeliner in my eye once, and the moisture on my eye meant that it sort of spread on the surface and dried into awful stringy bits :/ Thankfully it was only a little bit, and with the aid of a cotton bud, got it out.
DeleteThank-you!
Thank-you :) It's a bit faded now; a few posts ago there's one with when it was a half-rainbow!
ReplyDeleteI adore the black glossy lipstick.
